CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Julie d’Aubigny
CANON: Alternative version of historical person
CANON REFERENCE: http://mllemaupin.dreamwidth.org/profile
AGE: 18
GENDER: Physically she’s female, mentally she couldn’t care less even if she tried really hard.
YEAR IN SCHOOL/FACULTY POSITION: High School grade 11

APPEARANCE: Julie is tall (something like 178 cm) and athletically built with auburn hair that she keeps cut rather short, pale skin and blue eyes. She likes to play with the fact that she can easily be taken for both a boy and a girl depending on how she presents herself. What remains true no matter what, however, is that she is striking. She won’t let you miss that she’s around.

PERSONALITY: Julie is very proud, and very temperamental. She has a bit of a problem with authority and no patience if she deems something not worth her time. She has an unfortunate tendency to get physical when angered, as in she will start throwing punches. And she does get angry rather often, being a most opinionated young woman and not one to ever back down from a fight.
She’s extremely flirty when single and not even close to monogamous when in a relationship, her heart being one that is easily set aflutter by a pretty face or a witty line. She’s a romantic in her own way, and collects crushes like others might collect plushies. She’s not one to pine, however, as there are so very many pretty fishes in the sea. If you want her, great! If not, your loss.
Gender is an area where she delights in playing with people’s expectations, dressing in boy drag one day only to come to school in a dress the next. She uses female pronouns most of the time when talking about herself, but the truth is that she really doesn’t care all that much. She is herself, whatever that might mean on any given day. She doesn’t like having roles assigned to her simply based on what genitalia people think she possesses, and will get very testy with anyone who claims her behavior is too girly or too boyish or anything of the sort. Much like she will get extremely angry if anyone tries to tell her that she can’t sleep with and/or fall in love with whoever she likes regardless of their gender.
She has a great memory, though it can be rather selective. If she wants something to stick, it will, but if you haven’t caught her interest you can consider whatever you were trying to tell her forgotten within minutes. This means she does get rather good results in school, even if her actual interests are of a more physical nature. She loves fencing and is extremely good at it, she’s also very fond of dancing. Music is a passion of hers and she’s a gifted alto who has studied classical music for years. She does, however, also have a weakness for pretty words. She is also fairly good at drawing.
She’s flamboyant and over the top, always seeking the attention she so adores. She loves being center stage, in fact she can get rather frustrated if she isn’t the center of attention, and will then most likely pull one of her often ill-advised and sometimes immoral stunts. She knows right from wrong most of the time, it’s just not always a sure thing that she will care. She has very little regard for rules and if she feels like there is not a sufficient reason for her to obey, then she simply won’t.
She prefers detesting someone for an interesting reason over just being bored with them, tedium being her kryptonite. She does not deal well with what she perceives to be dull. She gets fidgety, annoyed and rude.
She’s a social butterfly who likes being around people and making new and interesting friends. She’s utterly fearless and never intimidated by people, she can’t see why in the world she ever would be.
She considers herself to be fabulous, and thinks that the world should agree with her.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Time is just another place to Julie. That is to say, she can travel in it. So far only within the constraints of her own lifespan, but she’s trying to change that because how cool would it be to go back and check out the dinosaurs? She can go further back into the past than she can into the future.
She can take people with her on her little trips if she’s touching them, and she can choose to appear in another place than the one she started from. She cannot, however, take anything from the time she travels to with her back.
She does meet herself from time to time, and the universe does not fall apart because of it. It’s just that the poor world has to deal with two of her for a little while.
A sort of tingling sensation alerts her to the fact that she needs to get her ass back to where she came from when she’s exhausted her power.
She can’t actually change the past, because she’s a part of it. She was there, when it happened, even if she was from the future at the time, so that is still the way things went down.
She still abuses her power in any and all ways she can think up.

AU HISTORY: Julie was born in France, and from the very start it was just her and her father. Her mother did not survive giving birth.
Gaston was a loud, boisterous man who liked to party and who thought it extremely important that his little girl knew how to take care of herself in the big, bad world. It was, in its own convoluted way, the reason why Julie started taking fencing lessons. There was also ballet. The self-defense classes and the singing lessons came later.
Her father was a trainer of elite dressage riders and their horses, and stables were part of her everyday life from before she could walk.
She was left to her own devices a lot, partly because Gaston believed firmly in individuality and partly because he just hadn’t been a particularly good candidate for parenthood. So she grew up to be a rather rough and rowdy child with very firm opinions on how she thought the world should be. Mostly the world should be doing what she wanted it to. When it didn’t, she got mad.
She always knew she was going to develop a mutant power one day, and the reason she knew was because she’d told herself. All her life future versions of herself showed up to pass along important skills or bits of information. It all made perfect sense so long as she didn’t think too hard about it.
‘One day’ turned out to be in the year she turned twelve, and then things started to get even more interesting. She had waited all her life to actually become those versions of herself she'd only gotten to meet briefly after all.
Her father had known all along too, of course, having gotten talks from future versions of his daughter as well. It might have contributed to his tendency to drink a little too much.
In school Julie was a difficult student, willful, argumentative and always causing trouble and pulling pranks. It was, however, still entirely her own idea to go the Xavier Institute because no one ever got enough on her to actually expel her.
It was an impulse decision and not very thoroughly thought through, but now she is here and she can’t wait to see what sort of trouble she can cause in a place where everyone has powers.
